NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson told me that the top open seat in the country is Michigan’s 7th District, and that our top recruit nationally is Tom Barrett, a 22-year U.S. Army veteran, who served in the Iraq War, and logged more than 1,000 hours as a helicopter pilot. When I read Tom’s background, I knew they were right. He is exactly the kind of common-sense conservative we need in Congress to fight for our traditional values, protect our nation from foreign threats, and focus on the issues that matter to Michigan families.
