Message from National NOW President Christian F. Nunes
Greetings Feminists,
Access to contraception varies widely across the country and is a massive barrier to a woman’s right to make decisions about her own life and body. This issue can be attributed to factors such as affordability and a scarcity of contraceptive education.
The release of the Dobbs [ [link removed] ] decision immediately led to fears of contraceptive accessibility, and unfortunately, attacks on birth control have been on the rise, especially in abortion-ban states. Contraceptives have had an extremely positive impact and allowed women to support themselves better financially, complete their education, and add stability to their careers.
Birth control is vital not just for a woman’s self-determination but also for preventive health care. Attempts to legislate and strip back only serve to endanger women’s lives. Here at NOW, we know that women of childbearing age deserve unrestricted access to contraceptives. And our work is not done until that becomes a reality.
In solidarity,
Christian

NOW in the News
• What does it really mean to be a feminist? Christian F. Nunes dives into this question with Latanya Mapp Frett, the President and CEO of Global Fund for Women and author of “The Everyday Feminist: The Key to Sustainable Social Impact-Driving Movements We Need Now More Than Ever” in the latest episode of her podcast, Feminist NOW. Latanya tells listeners it is the everyday feminists, the women making change in their communities across the globe, who are the key to transformative social change and the ones we need to support and stand in solidarity with. Christian and Latanya discuss intersectional and intergenerational feminism, taking back the word feminist, stepping into their power, and celebrating the women in their lives.
