Over the past few years, courageous social justice leaders have been working hard to overcome harmful systems and policies. But as many of us work to bring our country forward, the United States continues to be pulled back by those seeking to preserve the legacy of racial injustice and white supremacy.
Now more than ever, we must act to achieve a just, equitable, and multiracial future full of opportunities for all. We cannot reach this future unless we tell our stories in a different way – a better way. We need social justice leaders trained to create and effectively tell new narratives that positively influence how audiences make the decisions that will shape our collective futures.

At The Opportunity Agenda (TOA), we work every day with social justice leaders like Priscilla Olivarez, Monique Verdin, and qainat khan to elevate narratives that promote the world we aspire to live in, the world we deserve.

Priscilla works to expose and shut down Operation Lone Star (OLS), a dangerous, multibillion dollar scheme that threatens the safety and dignity of people residing in Texas. By educating communities and lawmakers - all the way up to the halls of Congress - about the harms of OLS, she is a unifying force for advocates. TOA provided tools and strategic messaging training for Priscilla so she can better connect with key audiences in Texas.

Monique created an indigenous-led, micro-grid, communication and collective power-building radio station providing indigenous news, views, and community channels towards environmental issues in the gulf south. TOA provided Monique with critical funding to assist with programming and connected her with other artists and leaders who helped build and prototype a long range radio (LoRA) mutual aid communication preparedness system and other communication networking strategies to support Bvlbancha Liberation Radio.

Inspired by her time at TOA’s Narrative Innovators Lab, qainat and her former ALCU colleagues updated the imagery for their work to end capital punishment. The new images symbolize the future they are working toward when the death penalty is abolished.
