Dear Friend,
Violence and abuse can affect survivors and their loved ones for years, and many feel afraid to share their stories and seek support. Many survivors don’t even know where to start.
** POV prioritizes accessibility for survivors. Our crisis hotline runs 24/7.

Alice came to Peace Over Violence as a survivor of sexual assault. She was able to connect with us through our 24-Hour LA Rape & Battery Crisis Hotline.

When Alice called the hotline, she was experiencing overwhelming anxiety as a result of her assault. A Counselor Advocate was here to answer the call.
Counselor Advocates are staff and volunteers who have undergone over 80 hours of training in crisis intervention and trauma-informed emotional support.

Alice’s Counselor Advocate was by her side as she recounted her trauma, helping her process her feelings, validating her experience, and providing confidential aid.
** “We are always here to listen. The hotline is part of a survivor’s community. You may feel alone, scared, and confused–but having a trained advocate to support you through the process can open new doors on your journey of healing and recovery.”

** It takes a village.
------------------------------------------------------------
** With a community–a village–of support behind her, Alice felt empowered to take action toward her own healing. Her Counselor Advocate discussed potential next steps–from referring her to a POV mental health clinician and support groups to seeking legal action. Alice thanked her Counselor Advocate for being there for her when she had nowhere else to turn.
------------------------------------------------------------
**
“Thank you so much for saying you believe me. You have no idea what this means to me.”

With funding being cut, Peace Over Violence needs you–our village–more than ever. Our thorough training led by crisis advocacy professionals is just one of the necessary expenses to keep the hotline running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
