In order to get on the ballot next year, I have to pay the filing fee by December 8. For people like my opponent, political insider Kevin McCarthy, the filing process doesn’t pose any challenges.
For me, a public school teacher fighting to counter historic poverty, expand healthcare access, and protect reproductive rights in our district, the path to the ballot looks very different.
