Today is Giving Tuesday - during the next 24 hours, people around the world
will come together to participate in the world's largest generosity

We felt this was the right day to highlight the hard work we still have
ahead of us to meaningfully address the climate crisis. This recent report
by the Environment Commissioner [1] reveals that the Liberal government has
fallen far short in addressing the climate crisis, including:

* None of the targets set to combat climate change have been met.
* Shockingly, oil and gas emissions have increased by 88% since 1990, and
overall emissions are 22% higher than promised.
* Only 8% of the promised electric vehicle charging stations have been
built.

Canada can't afford to ignore these findings. As our MP Mike Morrice puts
it, "While all other federal parties seem to be in a race to the bottom on
how best to erode carbon pricing, we continue to go the wrong direction in
the midst of a climate crisis with a closing window of opportunity to act
before it's too late."

The Green Party of Canada is committed to implementing bold solutions for
our environment and taking decisive action, including a comprehensive plan
to:

* Achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
* Invest in a nationwide network of electric vehicle charging stations.
* Transition to 100% renewable energy.
* Create Green jobs and stimulate our economy.

In a groundbreaking move, Green Party MP Mike Morrice has introduced a
motion [3] to apply a windfall tax on oil and gas profits that would
generate $4.2 billion to be directed towards proven climate solutions and
affordability measures for Canadians.

This innovative approach targets excessive profits from fossil fuel
extraction and production, redirecting the funds towards urgent climate
solutions and sustainable initiatives. It reflects our unwavering
dedication to addressing climate change head-on and fostering a greener,
more sustainable future for all Canadians.
