That’s right. We want you to ignore Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is a handy tool for large corporations with major giving programs, but for small nonprofits like ours, it’s not a sustainable way to give. You give what you can when you’re compelled to do so. There are very few donors across the U.S. that can afford to do all their giving on one day, and it pits small nonprofits against each other to compete for resources.
So instead, John, we want to share what we have done this year. To earn your support year round. Here is just some of the work we have accomplished this year:
Engaged local PowerUp community members in advocating for their communities to receive benefits from President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan, and trained them to testify in Duke Energy rate hike hearings.
Registered over 9,600 voters this year, our biggest off year program yet, while knocking doors and calling over 50,000 times to turn people out to vote in their local elections.
Commissioned NC-specific polling on climate and clean energy that shows a large majority of North Carolina voters (75%) say it is important for the state to increase its use of clean and renewable energy sources and reduce its use of fossil fuels (62%).
It is because of the generosity of people like you that we can do this work. Thank you for giving your time and resources.
If you are looking to support us, we ask that you become a sustaining donor. Five, fifteen, or twenty-five dollars a month goes a long way towards holding policy makers responsible and electing environmental champions.>>[link removed]
Thank you for joining us in this work. Happy holidays!
