Some of the LGBTQ+ young people I talk to tell me they need to hide who they are because being out isn’t safe. They feel like they have no one to turn to — not one affirming parent, teacher, coach, or other supportive adult. And they can't even imagine a future where they can live as their true selves.
We assure them that there’s a world of people who will embrace them for who they are. Trevor offers this support because it can be life-saving. When LGBTQ+ young people report feeling accepted by just one adult, their odds of attempting suicide are significantly lower. In many instances, by more than 40% according to Trevor research.
