Dear Friend,

In a heartfelt conversation with PEN America this month, singer-songwriter P!nk said, “Books have held a special joy for me from the time I was a child, and that’s why I am unwilling to stand by and watch while books are banned by schools.”

A few days later, we joined P!nk to give away thousands of banned books at her South Florida concerts to draw attention to a censorship crisis that is sweeping the country.

During the last school year, PEN America recorded 3,362 book bans in U.S. public schools. This assault on free thought, diverse narratives, and intellectual exploration is unprecedented. PEN America won’t stand for this, but we need your help.

If you want to join P!nk to ensure that every student gets to experience that special joy in reading freely, consider making a Giving Tuesday gift today.

Together, we will make sure there are no more banned books.

Sincerely,
PEN America
