Message from National NOW President Christian F. Nunes
November 24, 2023
Greetings Feminists,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Before we know it, 2023 will soon be over, and 2024 will be a monumental year, with the elections set in November. As we just saw on November 7, women successfully defended our rights in Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia, making me optimistic that we will do it again nationally. We must show up in even greater numbers for the 2024 elections, as so much is at stake.
Women continue to be the defenders of our democracy. And for our democracy to improve, women shouldn’t just lead the races but also win them. We need local and federal government members who represent our diverse electorate, especially as attempts to restrict women’s rights worsen. Looking ahead to 2024, I know justice and equity will prevail as long as we commit to showing up at the polls.
As we close out November, let this be a reminder of the power women hold and the importance of standing for reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, gender equality, racial justice, and democracy itself. In 2024, we will not stand down but stand together at a time when we will need it most.
In solidarity,
Christian
