This tactic of cracking or packing certain communities, typically targeting Black neighborhoods, has been used for ages to give Republicans the edge they need to win — because we all know their out-of-touch, extreme policies aren’t what’s leading them to victory.

We’ve seen the consequences of this unfold in real-time, like our target state Mississippi, where Republicans have drawn legislative districts that limit Black voting power.

We’ve also seen how much we have to fight to win basic, fair representation, like the months of organizing that went into winning a new congressional map in Alabama.

Our democracy, and the millions of Black voters being disenfranchised by these suppressive efforts, deserve better.
