Folks, the root cause behind many hardships we face trying to upend decades of conservative power comes from one major problem: Racist gerrymandering.
This tactic of cracking or packing certain communities, typically targeting Black neighborhoods, has been used for ages to give Republicans the edge they need to win — because we all know their out-of-touch, extreme policies aren’t what’s leading them to victory.
We’ve seen the consequences of this unfold in real-time, like our target state Mississippi, where Republicans have drawn legislative districts that limit Black voting power.
We’ve also seen how much we have to fight to win basic, fair representation, like the months of organizing that went into winning a new congressional map in Alabama.
Our democracy, and the millions of Black voters being disenfranchised by these suppressive efforts, deserve better.
That’s why we’re calling for an end to the racist gerrymandering practices that have rotted away our electoral process for far too long. Can you join us in demanding our elected officials address this crucial issue?
Thank you. It’s going to take all of us raising our voices to make progress.
