Look, I've always said that it was my mission to ensure that Charleston didn't forget its historic past – and I'm confident that John is the best fit to continue to protect its future.

As founding president of the International African American Museum here in Charleston, I got a chance to work with John Tecklenburg closely. He was there for us when we needed him and was a steadfast supporter of our mission.

Charleston has made leaps and bounds under Mayor Tecklenburg's leadership, and I have no doubt that he'll continue to serve the Holy City well.
