Today, we face a pivotal moment in New York's political landscape as the state's highest court hears arguments in a significant case.

National Democrats and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries brought this case seeking to overturn their defeat in the state Court of Appeals last year which tossed the partisan districts enacted by the legislature and Governor Hochul. The Court ordered fair districts drawn by a neutral expert which resulted in the GOP winning 11 U.S. House seats.

However, in an unexpected twist, House Democrats have proposed a dubious legal theory. They argue that the current congressional districts were only meant for the 2022 elections despite clear constitutional directives stating otherwise.

Major media outlets, including the New York Daily News and Newsday, have highlighted the extraordinary measures Democrats have taken to influence this case. Their efforts include forcing the appointment of a very liberal Chief Judge in the hopes that a newly constituted court would reverse their decision from last year.

The New York State Republican Party spearheads this litigation to uphold fair districts that are required by our state Constitution. We must be prepared for all possibilities as we anticipate the court's verdict.
