Folks, our organizing efforts just expanded: We have four new grantees!

Thanks to this grassroots team, we’re able to invest in trusted leaders who are the driving force behind the foundational change we’re seeing across our target regions.

Before we dive into our new partners, we need to say that sustaining our momentum and expanding our program is only possible when we meet important milestones like the mid-quarter fundraising goal we’re facing this Wednesday.

Stand
Up
Mobile
is
a
nonprofit
voter
education
and
advocacy
organization
committed
to
bringing
the
power
of
the
Black
vote
to
elections
at
all
levels.
Through
education,
coalition-building,
and
voter
registration,
SUM
aims
to
decrease
the
number
of
inactive
voters
and
ensure
all
local
voices
are
heard,
especially
those
who
are
too
often
excluded
from
the
political,
economic,
and
social
institutions
that
shape
their
lives.

Mississippi’s
Gulf
Coast,
with
an
impressive
legacy
of
environmental
justice
work,
The
Steps
Coalition
was
formed
in
2006
in
the
aftermath
of
Hurricane
Katrina.
Composed
of
20+
nonprofit
organizations
and
community
members,
Steps
convenes
and
provides
space
for
the
community
to
define
and
advocate
for
its
priorities

by
facilitating
communication,
coordination,
and
collaboration
among
its
members.

Freedom
OK
advocates
and
organizes
across
the
state
to
create
an
Oklahoma
where
all
Two
Spirit,
Lesbian,
Gay,
Bisexual,
Transgender,
Queer,
and
full
spectrum
of
people
whose
sexuality
or
gender
identity
exists
beyond
a
heteronormative,
binary
framework
(2SLGBTQ+),
inclusive
of
their
gender
identity,
gender
expression,
and/or
sexuality,
have
the
safety
to
thrive.

A
brand-new
organizing
effort
in
southern
West
Virginia,
the
Tenant
Rights
Organizing
Project
was
formed
to
respond
to
major
private
equity
firms
buying
up
mobile
home
communities
in
Mercer
County.
As
a
result,
renters
have
been
left
with
little
power
to
advocate
for
basic
rights
and
protections.
This
new
initiative
will
help
advocate
for
tenants
and
train
them
with
key
organizing
strategies
to
bring
change
to
their
communities.

As you can see, our Groundwork family is making progress on several important issues — from voter engagement to providing 2SLGBTQ+ community support — and it’s all thanks to this team’s donations of $25, $10, and $5 at a time.
