About the strike

Teamsters Local 2010 will conduct an unfair labor practice strike November 14th at 22 California State University campuses.

The 1,100 skilled trades Teamsters have worked hard and sacrificed to keep the CSU running through the pandemic and beyond, yet CSU has refused to bargain in good faith with the Union team for the fair contract they deserve. CSU has committed numerous unfair labor practices, including stalling negotiations, interfering with workers’ rights to engage in Union activities, unilaterally changing work rules, removing Union signage and materials from break rooms, and threatening retaliation for participating in a strike action.

CSU continues to insist on insulting wage proposals and takeaways of worker’s rights, such as emergency pay and work protection. CSU has denied workers regular step increases for 28 years, so that many workers are stuck near the bottom of their pay range after decades of service, and CSU pay lags behind comparable University of California (UC) Skilled Trades worker pay by 23.6% on average.

CSU can afford to be fair with workers. The University just raised student tuition by 6% per year for five years, and is slated to receive budget increases of at least 5% per year under a compact with the Governor. CSU is sitting on cash and reserves of over $10 billion, and hands out extravagant salaries to executives while short-changing workers.

Join us November 14th and tell CSU to be fair to workers and bargain in good faith!

In solidarity,
