How can you support climate-smart agriculture?

Hi John,

Did you know that American farmers and ranchers manage two-thirds of our nation’s lands? It’s a big responsibility and has an equally big impact on our changing climate. In fact, studies show that U.S. agriculture contributes roughly 10% of our nation’s annual greenhouse gas emissions.

That’s why we need to work with farmers, ranchers and foresters to find climate-smart ways to produce the food, fuel and fiber our country needs without putting our planet’s health at risk. Luckily, Congress has an opportunity to incentivize farmers to be a bigger part of the climate solution — by funding climate-smart agriculture and conservation practices in the Farm Bill!

The Farm Bill is a huge opportunity to slash climate emissions and improve the health of our lands and waters. And this year it’s more important than ever because there’s an additional $20 billion on the table to help farmers and rural communities cut climate emissions, protect water quality and improve soil health.
