Hi John,
Did you know that American farmers and ranchers manage two-thirds of our nation’s lands? It’s a big responsibility and has an equally big impact on our changing climate. In fact, studies show that U.S. agriculture contributes roughly 10% of our nation’s annual greenhouse gas emissions.
That’s why we need to work with farmers, ranchers and foresters to find climate-smart ways to produce the food, fuel and fiber our country needs without putting our planet’s health at risk. Luckily, Congress has an opportunity to incentivize farmers to be a bigger part of the climate solution — by funding climate-smart agriculture and conservation practices in the Farm Bill!
Support climate-smart programs in this year’s bill by sending a message to your Members of Congress, today.
The Farm Bill is a huge opportunity to slash climate emissions and improve the health of our lands and waters. And this year it’s more important than ever because there’s an additional $20 billion on the table to help farmers and rural communities cut climate emissions, protect water quality and improve soil health.
Our panel of experts said it best:
“The farm bill is critical in advancing our climate priorities, decreasing the agricultural sector’s emissions and making agriculture more resilient to climate impacts than are already here.” — Shoshana Abrams, Manager, Federal Legislative Campaigns, EDF Action
The Farm Bill is only considered by Congress once every 5 years, so we can’t miss this chance. Will you join us in asking policymakers to give farmers a hand by supporting a climate-smart Farm Bill? Take action now!
Thank you for your support,
Wes Rogerson
