Their Sacrifice, Our Duty 🇺🇲

Tomorrow is Veterans Day, a solemn moment to honor the courageous men and
women who have served our country. The sacrifices they made are immeasurable,
which is why they deserve our deepest gratitude.

Our all-volunteer military exemplifies selflessness and valor. No one forced
them to do this. In fact, life would be a lot easier for them and their
families if they chose another path. These folks truly feel called to a higher
purpose—one that has shaped this country and made it a beacon of hope. It’s a
choice they make out of love for their country and a profound sense of duty.

But as we tip our hats to their remarkable service to America, we must
recognize that our veterans face some serious hurdles. Here's a glimpse at the
numbers to ponder:

* 1 in 4 veterans struggle with depression, anxiety, or PTSD
<[link removed]>
* Only 46% of veterans say the VA is doing an ‘excellent’ job
<[link removed].>
meeting their needs
* Veterans are twice as likely to become homeless
<[link removed]>
than those who didn’t serve in the military
As we take stock of the challenges our veterans deal with, we're reminded of
our shared duty to lend them a helping hand. Whether it’s protecting them from

options, I will always fight for these men and women. I promise to take every
opportunity to help our selfless heroes find success and peace in their lives
after service.

On this Veterans Day and every day, let’s honor the courageous men and
women—from this generation and those that came before—for risking their lives
so that those at home can live in freedom and safety.

Wreaths Across East Tennessee 🎄

Wreaths Across America is asking for donations to pay tribute to the veterans
laid to rest inEast Tennessee
<[link removed]>
. Knoxville’s three veteran cemeteries have about 18,000 grave sites—all of
which need wreaths during this holiday season.

Last year, Wreaths Across America <[link removed]>
reached their goal of placing a wreath on every single one of those headstones,
but that was only the second time in history that this was accomplished.

This organization exists only through donations from generous folks like you.
Each wreath costs $17, so if you have the means to give, this is a worthy cause

Our veterans who have left an indelible mark on East Tennessee deserve a
meaningful gesture this holiday season, and I hope we can ensure their legacy
lives on for generations to come.
