The spotlight in this election was on women—and women came through.

In Ohio, a constitutional amendment to protect access to abortion care overwhelmingly passed with widespread support.

In Kentucky, incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear won a second term by highlighting his opponent’s extremist positions on abortion, and voters remembered his veto of a proposal banning abortions after 15 weeks.

And in Virginia, abortion rights won the day and there is a pro-choice majority in the legislature ready to stop any attempts at an abortion ban.

One thing is clear: abortion and women’s rights were on the ballot, just as they will be in 2024. Yesterday, we went to the polls to defend reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, gender equality, racial justice, and democracy itself—and won.
