No Nonsense Budgeting š°
<[link removed]>
Itās a new dawn and a new day under the leadership of our newly minted speaker
of the House, Mike Johnson. But Iām still the same old me: a down-home
Tennesseean demanding fiscal responsibility in our nationās capital.
Our friends in Israel are under attack, and I believe with my whole heart that
itās our duty to help them. Yes, this is our ally in the Middle East, and they
desperately need us right now, but itās also simply theright thing to do.
Thatās why I voted to approve $14.3 billion in federal aid dollars to Israel
<[link removed]>
.
But Speaker Johnson has a fresh take on how to do things from here on out, and
because I know weāre on the same page here, I think youāre going to like it.
Itās a simple mathematical approach of making cuts in order to make room for
spending. Whereās the money for Israel coming from? Weāre redirecting cash that
was intended for the IRS in President Bidenās uselessInflation Reduction Act
<[link removed]>
.
In a very on-brand and unsurprising move for Biden, heās threatening to veto
the bill
<[link removed]>
. Democrats want to pull the wool over our eyes and pass anāaid packageā
<[link removed]>
that is lumped in with a whole lot of crud. From more unchecked dollars for
Ukraine to border āsecurity,ā which is a complete joke when you consider the
fact that our southern border is anything but secure, itās always the same old
song and dance with the Left.
We are surely headed for a political showdown
<[link removed]>
when this thing goes to the Democrat-led Senate. They claim they need IRS
funding to go after ātax cheats,ā but we know their plan is more swampy than
that. They want tonickel and dime
<[link removed]>
everyday Americans selling something for $600 on eBay.
As the old saying goes, Liberals want to rob Peter to pay Paul, and Iāve seen
enough. I'm hopeful that we're heading in the right direction with the new
speaker on our side, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll keep holding
the line and demand dadgum responsible budgeting every step of the way.

Vols For A Good Cause š§”

<[link removed]>
November is Alzheimerās Disease Awareness Month, and the Vols will pay tribute
<[link removed]>
in some very special ways.
For those who donāt know, Lady Vol women's basketball head coach Pat Summitt
died in 2016 from Alzheimerās complications. The football team will add special
accents to their jerseys on Saturday in remembrance of the legendary coach and
to spread awareness about the disease.
If youāre headed to the game, there will also be a commemorative cup
<[link removed]>
for purchase, and $1 of every sale will go to University of Tennessee medical
research on Alzheimer's.
Just when you think Vols fans couldnāt be more dedicated, they show out and
live up to their name. Tennessee has been known as the Volunteer State since
the War of 1812 when people showed up in droves to answer the call to fight.
Iām always proud to be a University of Tennessee graduate, and itās an honor
to call the Volunteer State home sweet home.
