After a Cascade of Republican States Left ERIC, What Comes Next? ([link removed])
By Devon Hesano
Here are a few updates.
* In Georgia, a federal court delayed ([link removed]) trial in two cases challenging the state’s congressional and legislative maps after a judge in a separate case ordered ([link removed]) new state’s congressional, state House and state Senate maps last week. In the other cases, a lower court struck down ([link removed]) the maps and ordered additional majority-Black districts to be enacted in all three maps.
* The Minnesota Supreme Court heard ([link removed]) oral argument in a lawsuit challenging former President Donald Trump's eligibility to be on the state's ballot for the 2024 presidential election. Plaintiffs argue that the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution disqualifies ([link removed]) Trump from running due to his involvement in Jan. 6.
Here’s what’s coming up.
* The Kansas Supreme Court will hear ([link removed]) oral argument in a lawsuit challenging the passage of two voter suppression laws. The plaintiffs allege the laws violate the Kansas Constitution by unduly burdening Kansans’ right to vote.
