Daily Docket — Thursday, Nov. 2

Here are a few updates.

  • In Georgia, a federal court delayed trial in two cases challenging the state’s congressional and legislative maps after a judge in a separate case ordered new state’s congressional, state House and state Senate maps last week. In the other cases, a lower court struck down the maps and ordered additional majority-Black districts to be enacted in all three maps.

  • The Minnesota Supreme Court heard oral argument in a lawsuit challenging former President Donald Trump's eligibility to be on the state's ballot for the 2024 presidential election. Plaintiffs argue that the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution disqualifies Trump from running due to his involvement in Jan. 6.

Here’s what’s coming up.

  • The Kansas Supreme Court will hear oral argument in a lawsuit challenging the passage of two voter suppression laws. The plaintiffs allege the laws violate the Kansas Constitution by unduly burdening Kansans’ right to vote.
