Dear John,
This week was crucial for the Boundary Waters. You may have heard that Twin Metals has been allowed to conduct exploratory drilling near the Boundary Waters, a precursor to developing a mine UNDER Birch Lake. Clearly, Antofagasta, the Chilean mining giant behind the Twin Metals mine, wants to resurrect its toxic sulfide-ore copper mine in the watershed of the Boundary Waters.

The mining conglomerate got a foothold by prying open the door to drilling on vulnerable state and private lands next to the Boundary Waters, short-circuiting our ongoing state lawsuit (making this decision before next year's hearing), and undercutting the Biden administration’s 20-year protections for the federal lands in the watershed.
Help us push back. We need to advocate for permanent legislative protections and prepare for our crucial legal battle next year - you can help us move these measures forward with a 2X gift. [[link removed]]

P.S. Toxic mining has no place next to America's most visited Wilderness, and strong federal and state-level protections via legislation and litigation are a crucial component of our strategy to protect the Boundary Waters forever. You can help by rushing a 2X gift today >> [[link removed]]
