Perlstein notes that mainstream media analysis of an attempted coup by
Trump, et al., has been almost exclusively "how will this play in the
swing states" or "who's winning the messaging war."
"This is how republics die," Perlstein laments. "I can't begin
to express my shame."
America needs the media to do better, and the Prospect is up to the
