Dear friend,

We did it!

The Assisted Dying Bill has passed its Second Reading in the House of Keys with
an historic vote of 17 to 7. MHKs have agreed in principle that dying Manx
citizens should have the option of an assisted death, meaning the Isle of Man
will soon join countries like Australia, New Zealand, and the US in granting
dying people choice at the end of life. This is a huge victory.

The Bill will now progress through further stages of scrutiny, consultation and
debate. Assisted dying could be available as a choice for terminally ill islanders in
2025.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible work of our Manx Dignity
in Dying supporters. Whether it was writing to your MHKs, telling your stories to local media, or
attending the demonstration outside Tynwald this morning, you all worked so
hard. An enormous thank you to everyone for everything you’ve done to support
the campaign.

BUT IT’S NOT OVER YET. {USER_DATA~FIRST NAME~FRIEND}, WILL YOU INVITE A FRIEND

We still need our strength in numbers to support the Bill as it moves through
Tynwald, next onto the Clauses stage where the Bill will be scrutinised, and
possibly amended, before it’s then voted on by the Legislative Council.

TODAY WE’VE PROVEN THAT WE CAN CHANGE MINDS WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER,
{USER_DATA~FIRST NAME~FRIEND}. WILL YOU INVITE A FRIEND TO JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN?
