Supporter,
Even if fracking didn't contaminate drinking water…
Even if oil and gas companies weren't trying to invade public lands…
Even if thousands of gallons of crude oil never gushed across plains and wetlands and places of deep importance to Indigenous people…
Even then, the pipelines crisscrossing this country would still be a catastrophe. Each new mile laid down escalates the climate crisis and takes us further away from the solutions we so urgently need.
We're calling on Congress and President Biden to shut down dirty pipelines — and we need your help to turn up the heat. We're looking for 100 Sierra Club supporters to step up by Monday — will you join in?

SHUT DOWN DIRTY PIPELINES
The Dirty Fuels fight that began with Keystone XL has grown — and so have the risks from oil pipelines. The top priority right now is shutting down the enormous Line 5 pipeline.

We need your help to make it happen.
Line 5 stretches across more than 600 miles of countryside in Wisconsin and Michigan and through the Great Lakes at the Straits of Mackinac, pushing 22 million gallons of oil every single day. It poses catastrophic risks to pristine natural areas, farmland, tribal lands, and the Great Lakes, the world's largest source of freshwater and the source of drinking water that communities depend on.
This threat isn't in some far-off future. It's here, now. Line 5 has had 29 spills in its history. Right now, as you read this, it is putting the Great Lakes at risk of an oil spill. It's only a matter of time before this unsafe pipeline — with 70 years of accumulated rust, damage, and degradation — causes an environmental emergency.
We can't afford to wait until that happens. We're building support in Congress to stop these pipeline projects and put pressure on the White House to shut them down for good.
