Yesterday (Wednesday, 4 March) saw the premiere of the major new BBC2 documentary Tigers: Hunting the Traffickers. Debbie Banks, our Tiger Campaigns Leader and an internationally recognised expert in the field, made a big contribution to the programme’s research and also features in it. Tigers: Hunting the Traffickers follows former Royal Marines commando Aldo Kane exposing the shocking secrets of the illegal tiger trade in South-East Asia and those who profit from it. ** Myanmar teak importers must trace legality ([link removed])

EIA has been at the forefront of efforts to keep illegally felled teak from Myanmar out of European markets and we’re delighted to see a Dutch court rule that importers must be able to trace the legality of the luxury timber all the way back to felling.
