Here are some recent updates.
* In a win for voters, an Arizona judge rejected ([link removed]) a right-wing legal group's request to temporarily ban drop boxes in the state. The group filed a lawsuit alleging that drop boxes violate state election law. Litigation will continue.
+ The Alliance for Retired Americans and Voto Latino also moved ([link removed]) to defend the drop boxes from the right-wing legal challenge.
* California advocacy groups urged ([link removed]) Secretary of State Shirley Weber (D) to take action regarding Shasta County's indication that it will attempt to hand count ballots for the upcoming November elections, despite a new law ([link removed]) making the move illegal.
* The Republican National Committee and North Carolina Republican Party moved ([link removed]) to defend the state's new voter suppression law Senate Bill 747 ([link removed]) . Three lawsuits argue that the law illegally suppresses voters and violates federal and state law and the U.S. Constitution.
* A Colorado judge denied ([link removed]) former President Donald Trump's motion to dismiss a lawsuit seeking to remove him from the state's 2024 presidential ballot due to his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection.

The courts are jam-packed with democracy litigation next week.
* On Monday, trial will begin in a lawsuit seeking to keep Trump off the ballot in Colorado due to his involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection. Trial will last all week.
* Also on Monday, there will be a hearing in a lawsuit ([link removed]) filed by conservatives challenging Minnesota's voting rights restoration law.
* On Tuesday, oral argument will be held ([link removed]) in the Florida Appeals Court in the Florida congressional redistricting case. A lower court struck down the map for violating the state constitution by diminishing the voting power of Black voters in North Florida.
* Also on Tuesday, a hearing will be held ([link removed]) in a Wisconsin lawsuit challenging the state’s absentee voting rules.
* On Wednesday, trial will begin ([link removed]) in Michigan in a lawsuit filed by Black voters that claims the state’s legislative districts violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
* Also on Wednesday, the appellee's response brief is due ([link removed]) in the Arkansas congressional redistricting challenge case.
* On Thursday, oral argument will be held ([link removed]) in another 14th Amendment challenge to Trump’s eligibility, this time in the Minnesota Supreme Court.
* On Friday, oral argument will be held ([link removed]) at the Kansas Supreme Court in a case challenging two voter suppression laws.
