Young voters overcame numerous barriers to cast a ballot earlier this week. Reports likes those out of Austin, Texas where undecided young voters waited three hours to cast a ballot tell us what we already knew:

Young people are determined the use the most powerful tool they have in our democracy, and they will play a critical role in the 2020 Election

It also reinforces the need to fight for young people’s right to vote.
-Waiting in line for three hours to vote is a poll tax.
-Restrictive ID laws that don’t allow young voters to use their public-school-issued student ID is suppression.
-Moving polling locations off college campuses is undemocratic.

With young people comprising nearly 40% of the U.S. electorate, it’s critical that we invest in young voters.
