CLASP Launches Equity Matters Series with “Addressing Poverty, Racial Injustice, and Threats to Multiracial Democracy”
On October 12, CLASP launched Equity Matters, a virtual discussion series. More than 400 people attended the inaugural session, which featured Maya Wiley, Richard Rothstein, Ray Suarez, Lisa Sharon Harper, and Indi Dutta-Gupta discussing poverty, racial injustice, and threats to multiracial democracy. Stay tuned for the next session of the series in early 2024.

CLASP Launches Economic Equity Project in Mississippi and North Carolina
CLASP recently launched a new project, Building Equitable Economic Supports in the South (BEES). Through the BEES project, CLASP is working directly with community organizations and policy organizations in Mississippi and North Carolina to improve the economic well-being of people experiencing poverty.

Global Mental Health Month: Making a Difference in Maternal Mental Health
October is Global Mental Health Month, which offers an opportunity to raise awareness and take action on the maternal mental health crisis in the United States. To address this crisis, Congress must meaningfully invest in maternal mental health supports and services that ensure the well-being of birthing people at this critical time in their lives.

CLASP Staff Receive Appointments
Congratulations to India Heckstall and Christian Collins on their recent appointments! India was named to the U.S. Department of Education's Student Loan Debt Relief Negotiated Rulemaking Committee [[link removed]] , and Christian was appointed to the D.C. Labor and Employment Relations Association [[link removed]] as its first Student Board Member. Both appointments are related to the issues they address at CLASP, and we can't wait to see the great work they'll do in the coming months.
