Friend, Saturday was the last day for Governor Newsom to sign or veto bills.
The final result? Nine transformational climate, environmental, and democracy bills are now law! Celebrate with us by pitching in a few dollars to support our work >> [link removed]
You already know all about our corporate climate accountability package of SB 253 and SB 261, but those weren’t the only significant bills signed into law that EnviroVoters prioritized this year.
AB 3 invests in offshore wind energy and good-paying jobs in California. AB 126 guarantees funding to cut vehicle pollution in underserved communities. AB 1167 makes Big Oil pay for oil spills and leaks instead of taxpayers. And AB 421 will reform California’s referendum process to make voting with your values easier.
These four bills represent different spheres we need to tackle to solve the climate crisis: investing in clean energy and transportation, improving public safety, holding Big Oil accountable, and making our elections more democratic.
These bills would not have become law without EnviroVoters’ advocacy, or without your support, friend. While we were building support in the halls of the Capitol, out in the field in battleground regions, in the public sphere and the fourth estate, and everywhere in between, members like you made over 1,300 calls and sent over 11,500 emails to elected officials.
To solve the climate crisis, we’ve got to do it all over again in 2024 and then some. We have the blueprint to win these legislative battles, but we’re a small nonprofit facing tens of millions from corporate polluters and complacency still from far too many leaders.
Please make a donation to support our tried and true advocacy efforts to ensure California leads the way on climate in 2024.

Governments throughout the country and all over the world watch to see what California does, as a global climate leader with the world’s fifth largest economy. And when California leads, others follow. We show them what is possible.
That’s the kind of power and influence California has — and that YOU have, as a member of EnviroVoters.
With this crop of bills, we are one big step closer to a greener future, where the biggest companies in the world measure and disclose their pollution. But it’s not going to be enough if we don’t build on our successes next year.
It’s not easy trying to take on some of the most powerful players on a global scale as a small nonprofit. We rely on the generosity of our members to allow us to continue to GET STUFF DONE.
By pitching in even just 10 bucks, you’ll be making an investment in our work to champion bold environmental changes and help us resist Big Oil’s influence in Sacramento. Your generosity fuels our success, which has global ramifications!
