Friend, Saturday was the last day for Governor Newsom to sign or veto bills.
The final result? Nine transformational climate, environmental, and democracy bills are now law! Celebrate with us by pitching in a few dollars to support our work >>
You already know all about our corporate climate accountability package of SB 253 and SB 261, but those weren’t the only significant bills signed into law that EnviroVoters prioritized this year.
AB 3 invests in offshore wind energy and good-paying jobs in California. AB 126 guarantees funding to cut vehicle pollution in underserved communities. AB 1167 makes Big Oil pay for oil spills and leaks instead of taxpayers. And AB 421 will reform California’s referendum process to make voting with your values easier.
These four bills represent different spheres we need to tackle to solve the climate crisis: investing in clean energy and transportation, improving public safety, holding Big Oil accountable, and making our elections more democratic.
These bills would not have become law without EnviroVoters’ advocacy, or without your support, friend. While we were building support in the halls of the Capitol, out in the field in battleground regions, in the public sphere and the fourth estate, and everywhere in between, members like you made over 1,300 calls and sent over 11,500 emails to elected officials.
