NCUA Board to discuss rules on insurance, fair hiring ([link removed] )

The NCUA Board released the agenda ahead of its meeting next week. The board will discuss a notice of proposed rulemaking regarding amending and simplifying its share insurance rules and a proposal to enact the Fair Hiring in Banking Act. The NCUA Board will also receive an update on the agency’s cybersecurity programs and cybersecurity trends in the industry.

CFPB, FTC fine TransUnion $23M for FCRA violations ([link removed] )

The CFPB and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Thursday announced a $15 million order against a subsidiary of TransUnion for violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The CFPB also took a separate $8 million enforcement action against the company.

Senate Banking Committee to consider NCUA Board nominee next week ([link removed] )

The Senate Banking Committee has announced it will hold a nomination hearing Oct. 19 that will include NCUA Board nominee Tanya Otsuka. Otsuka was nominated last month by President Joe Biden to replace current Board Member Rodney Hood, whose term expired in August.

September’s CPI report indicates ‘progress’ on inflation ([link removed] )

On a seasonally-adjusted basis, overall consumer prices rose 0.4 percent in September, with the overall consumer price index (CPI) rising 3.7 percent year-over-year. NAFCU Economist Noah Yosif analyzed the data in a new Macro Data Flash report.
