Friend,
Over the weekend, one of the newspapers in our area, The Roanoke Star News, published an article [[link removed]] entitled, "White-Boyd Changes Colors For Election – Suetterlein Is The Best Choice For District 4."
The Senate Democratic Caucus condemned [[link removed]] the title and tone of the article, and Councilwoman White-Boyd has received numerous messages of support from district residents. The article's theme seems to be that someone like Councilwoman White-Boyd has to change colors to talk about issues like 'cracking down' on violent crime and parental involvement in education.
The article begins, "Suddenly, Roanoke City Council member and the Democrat candidate for VA Senate District 4, Trish White-Boyd has begun supporting “ tough on crime legislation!”
The article continues, "Roanoke City citizens are definitely familiar with White-Boyd and her inability to find a solution to reduce violent crime in the City."
And, "White-Boyd’s record – or rather lack thereof – in fighting violent crime should be a lesson to be remembered when Roanoke voters go to the polls."
Trish White-Boyd has a strong record of fighting violent crime, and she made it a top priority on the Roanoke City Council;

The article also takes issue with Trish's support for "Safer communities and fighting the opioid crisis by prosecuting traffickers,” and accuses her of, "just a campaigning propaganda?"

On parental involvement in education, the article claims, "White-Boyd is maneuvering around with messages hoping to appeal the conservative voters."
And, "For example, while Democrats are opposing parental rights in schools, White-Boyd is nevertheless sending out a different message, ”Parental rights, and a removal of politics from the classroom.” Obviously, this message is targeting conservatives for the purpose of votes only."

The article concludes, "How can White-Boyd be trusted as she has not spoken in support of parental rights in schools in the past?"
