New CUPP breaks down SCOTUS oral arguments in CFPB case ([link removed] )

A new episode of the NAFCU Credit Union Policy Podcast (CUPP) is now available, exploring the oral arguments held by the U.S. Supreme Court last week on the constitutionality of the CFPB’s funding structure.

After Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was removed from his post as Speaker of the House, the House was sent into recess as Republicans debate who to nominate as speaker. The House returns today, and House Republicans are expected to hold an internal vote Wednesday for their choice for the next Speaker of the House. Reps. Steve Scalise, R-La., and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, have pushed for support. No date has been set for a full floor vote for Speaker. With no elected Speaker of the House, the chamber is unable to handle business on the floor.

September surprise: jobs report gives ‘strong headline figure’ ([link removed] )

New data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed 336,000 jobs were added in September, while gains in August and July were revised up 40,000 and 79,000, respectively. NAFCU Chief Economist and Vice President of Research Curt Long provided insights in a new Macro Data Flash report.
