After Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was removed from his post as Speaker of the House, the House was sent into recess as Republicans debate who to nominate as speaker. The House returns today, and House Republicans are expected to hold an internal vote Wednesday for their choice for the next Speaker of the House. Reps. Steve Scalise, R-La., and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, have pushed for support. No date has been set for a full floor vote for Speaker. With no elected Speaker of the House, the chamber is unable to handle business on the floor.
