Sylvia Swayne , running for the Alabama state House, also received an endorsement. Sylvia, who is the first out trans person to run for office in Alabama [[link removed]] , would also make history as the first out trans person ever elected in the state [[link removed]] . After making the runoff [[link removed]] , she’ll be on the ballot again on October 24th [[link removed]] .

She has over 30 years of public service experience as a Minneapolis City Council policy aide, nonprofit executive director, consultant and oral historian for the Transgender Oral History Project at the University of Minnesota.
