Taylor Knuth, running for mayor of Ogden, UT, was elevated to Spotlight status. Read up on Taylor’s campaign in The Sign Post or in the Kuer90.1 here!
Sylvia Swayne, running for the Alabama state House, also received an endorsement. Sylvia, who is the first out trans person to run for office in Alabama, would also make history as the first out trans person ever elected in the state. After making the runoff, she’ll be on the ballot again on October 24th.
Andrea Jenkin’s First Campaign Ad!
Have you met Andrea Jenkins yet? Andrea was the first Black out transgender woman to be elected to public office in the United States. She has over 30 years of public service experience as a Minneapolis City Council policy aide, nonprofit executive director, consultant and oral historian for the Transgender Oral History Project at the University of Minnesota. And she just launched her first campaign ad!

Spotlight candidate Joshua Cole’s race has been named a bellwether race to watch by Politico! His race will be a race to watch on Election Night. Meanwhile, Joshua’s latest ad flexes his credentials on the right to choose, while pointing out his opponent’s abysmal record. We’re celebrating Laphonza Butler’s appointment to be the next U.S. senator from California – the first out LGBTQ+ Black person to ever serve in the body! Watch as she was sworn into the Senate and achieved history.
Laphonza is a champion for building a more inclusive and representative government and will certainly be a champion for women, people of color and LGBTQ+ people in the U.S Senate.
