Help name Oldham's new gritters

Our trusty salt spreaders are retiring after years of hard work. Now, it's time to name the new ones, and we need your help.

If you're aged 4 to 11 and live in Oldham or go to a local school, you can suggest a name for the six new gritters. Past names like Brad Grit and Snowbee One Kenobi will help give you some ideas.

Baby Loss Awareness Week 2023

We know losing a baby during pregnancy or childbirth is incredibly tough, and sadly it happens to about 1 in 4 pregnancies.
During such a difficult time, finding ways to cope is very important. That's why the team at [Relax With Lucy & Co]([link removed])is here to support your emotional well-being. They hold special mindfulness sessions every Wednesday from 8 to 9pm, designed to help those going through the loss of a baby. If you believe this could be helpful for you or your family, please share this [link.]([link removed])  To mark the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week, which runs from 9 to 15 October, we will light up the Civic tower to raise awareness of the issue, as well as sharing help and information across our social media channels.

Making Salmon Fields safer

From Monday 9 October to Tuesday 24 October, we're making the Salmon Fields crossing in Royton safer for you. 

During this time, there will be temporary traffic lights and the road will be completely closed on Monday 23 October, and Tuesday 24 October.

We'll have clear signs showing you a different way to go. We're also adding two speed bumps and improving drainage.

We'll make sure you can still get to your homes and businesses. Thank you for understanding and working with us to keep everyone safe.
