Last week, CA Gov. Gavin Newsom slapped progressives in the face.

Instead of appointing US Rep. Barbara Lee — the most qualified, the most experienced, and the most effective progressive — to serve in the US Senate, he picked a former corporate executive and lobbyist who’s never held elected office.

That’s right. Newsom ignored calls by leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Our Revolution, Working Families Party, Gen Z for Change, and the grassroots to pick Barbara Lee — instead, he chose a corporate Democratic insider with Airbnb and Uber as past clients.

We don’t need another corporate Democrat in the Senate — we need Barbara Lee, a proven progressive champion who speaks truth to power.
