Instead of appointing US Rep. Barbara Lee — the most qualified, the most experienced, and the most effective progressive — to serve in the US Senate, he picked a former corporate executive and lobbyist who’s never held elected office.

Newsom ignored calls by leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus, Our Revolution, Working Families Party, Gen Z for Change, and the grassroots to pick Barbara Lee — instead, he chose a corporate Democratic insider with Airbnb and Uber as past clients.
We don’t need another corporate Democrat in the Senate — we need Barbara Lee, a proven progressive champion who speaks truth to power.
