MONDAY E'NEWS Fall Board Meeting Summary MCRGO's Board of Directors met by Zoom Video Conference on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023. Jerry Warnemuende was seated to fill the vacant partial term for the Southwest seat to which he was elected on the August 2023 ballot. June Board Meeting Minutes are approved. Membership Report: 11,461 members as of 9.28.23, a decrease of 4.7% from June 2023. The decrease is due to lower summer CPL class numbers compared to 2022. MCRGO's Annual Report with the State of Michigan has been filed. MCRGO's Cyber, D&O, and General Liability insurance policies have been renewed. Steve Dulan provided a confidential legal update to the Board. The Northern Lower Michigan Picnic is approved as a permanent annual event at the Northland Sportsmen's Club in Gaylord on the weekend following Father's Day. The 2023 Annual Meeting breakout period will consider member comments made in the comment section on the August ballot following review by the Chair. A discussion on investment of MCRGO's financial assets will take place at the 2023 Annual Meeting. MCRGO Supports Senate Bill 468. MCRGO Opposes Senate Bills 471 & 472 and House Bills 4945 & 4946. MCRGO takes No Position on House Bills 4088-4100. MCRGO takes No Position on House Bill 4846. MCRGO Opposes House Bill 4848. MCRGO Supports House Bill 4943. Photography credit: Lamonte Suave Bascomb September Events Recap A cool and breezy final weekend of summer for the Upper Peninsula Picnic at Sagola Township Sportsmen's Club was followed by a warm, sunny first weekend of autumn at Kickin' Brass Gun Range & Training Center in Jackson for the Fall Firearms Festival. Thanks to both venues for hosting us this year and all the volunteers who joined in to put on the events. Special thanks to Rep. Greg Markannen (R-Hancock), Melody Wagner (R-Gwinn), Rep. Mike Harris (R-Waterford), and Rep. Sarah Lightner (R-Jackson) for participating in the Legislative Q&A at the events as well as to Steve Dulan and Chuck Bates for hosting the Ask an Attorney forum and New Shooter Workshop respectively. Shooting events this year at the Fall Firearms Festival were directed by MCRGO Master Instructor Joe Rand. Congratulations to all the medalists in the Pistol Marksmanship (Iron Sights), Pistol Marksmanship (Optics), One Handed Pistol (Iron Sights), One Handed Pistol (Optics), Distance Rifle, and Modern Rifle events. We also had an opportunity to test out MCRGO's new interactive Multi-Target Training Simulator prior to its official debut at the Winter 2024 outdoor shows in Novi and Grand Rapids. Upcoming MCRGO events include the NRA Freedom Fest at Howell this weekend and the MCRGO Annual Meeting 2023 at East Lansing in early December detailed below.
