EXCITING NEWS: WildAid’s global marine program has been selected as one of 15 finalists in the third annual Earthshot Prize ([link removed]) —a distinguished global environmental award that celebrates and champions innovators focused on solving our most pressing global climate challenges!

“Joining the impressive group of 2023 Earthshot Prize finalists is a tremendous honor and one that recognizes the essential role and impact that WildAild’s global enforcement work is having on protecting marine wildlife and strengthening and supporting sustainable fisheries in more than 95 priority marine sites around the globe,” said Meaghan Brosnan, WildAid’s Chief Operating Officer, and Retired Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard.

We're thrilled to be selected for this opportunity to scale our work for greater impact. Learn more about the prize here ([link removed]) .

** EVERY CLIMATE ACTION COUNTS!
------------------------------------------------------------

WildAid, in partnership with China Green Carbon Foundation and China Environmental News Agency, and supported by Discovery Channel, recently launched the “Every Climate Action Counts: The Power Is Yours! ([link removed]) ” campaign in Beijing.

Led by WildAid ambassador, actor, and cycling enthusiast Wu Lei, the campaign encourages young people to combat climate change together by sharing their own climate action, including through the interactive "Climate Action Inspiration Station” ([link removed]) . The campaign PSA ([link removed]) and billboards will be distributed on social as well as at outdoor locations and televisions across China over the next few months. Later this year, the campaign will release an updated version of the popular “Public Climate Action Handbook ([link removed]) ” and open an offline exhibition at the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art.

“Along with Wu Lei and other climate ambassadors, WildAid has promoted individual climate action for over 10 years. Taking our experience and lessons from a decade of work in China, WildAid has begun to work just as diligently to lower emissions in the United States, where we launched our first-ever campaign in January of this year. WildAid is proud to be the only organization messaging climate action on a nationwide scale in both China and the United States,” said John Baker, WildAid’s Chief Program Officer.

This campaign launched on the heels of the United Nations World Meteorological Organization announcement that July 2023 was Earth’s hottest month on record and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres urgent call for "climate action now."

** HONORING UGANDA'S CONSERVATION REPORTERS
------------------------------------------------------------

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and WildAid announced the winners of the inaugural Uganda Conservation Media Awards ([link removed]) at a ceremony on September 22. Recognizing the critical role the media plays in raising awareness, the awards aimed to encourage, motivate, and inspire journalists to produce the best in conservation reporting.

“These awards represent far more than a recognition of talent; they are a testament to the potential of media to drive the conservation agenda," said UWA Executive Director Sam Mwandha. “The stories the photographs and the documentaries that grace our newspapers, radios, television screens, and websites serve an educative role and are a powerful reminder of the urgent need to protect our natural world."

Judges received more than 140 entries across 13 categories, and journalists from all over the country in print, radio, and TV were honored, covering an impressive range of conservation issues.

A huge thank you to all who took part and congratulations to the winners! Learn more and see the list of winners here ([link removed]) .
