Faith’s mother ran a hotel in their Kenyan village that provided food service to nearby business owners. Often, Faith would come help her mother with the deliveries — a selfless act that soon took a turn into darkness.
One of the business owners that Faith delivered to was a well-known carpenter in the community. One evening when Faith was 15, the carpenter invited her in and assaulted her for the first time. As the assaults continued over time, the carpenter convinced her that their relationship was normal, even though he was twice her age. Faith became caught in a cycle of fear and abuse and was
