Dear fellow MoveOn member,

It may be hard to believe, but the 2024 election cycle is officially
underway. With less than four months until the first ballots are cast, I
want to talk to you about this terrifyingly high-stakes election—and what
we need to do together to win it.

But we need to start by grounding ourselves in some uncomfortable
realities.

First: Donald Trump is all but certain to be the Republican nominee. Even
after being indicted for 91 separate felonies, he still leads all the
other GOP candidates by double digits in recent polls.^1

Second: The race between Trump and President Biden is going to be close.
Very close. Some of the most recent polls show a dead heat between the
candidates, and just like in 2020, it is likely that the race will come
down to just a handful of voters in a handful of states.^2

And third: If we lose this race, we will lose American democracy—because
Donald Trump is a fascist. Not an authoritarian, not a right-wing
extremist—he is a fascist, and we should not be afraid to call him one.

This election could not be more important, which is why I am so grateful
to have an organization like MoveOn (which is celebrating its 25th
anniversary next month!) that is prepared to execute on a strategic,
innovative, and highly impactful campaign to win in 2024. I'll tell you
more about it below, but first I need to ask, John:

What does MoveOn plan to do in their 2024 election campaign? It's simple,
really.

They plan to make sure that voters who aren't so plugged in to political
news know about both the big accomplishments President Biden has made in
his first term and the extent of Trump's years of corruption and
criminality.

OK, maybe it's not that simple.

The first step—which is currently underway—involves MoveOn harnessing the
impressive brainpower of their analytics team to identify the exact voters
in the exact districts in the exact states who will form the key
constituencies needed to win.

Then, they will begin deploying innovative, data-backed tactics that their
research has shown will be most effective at turning out those voters on
Election Day.

Those tactics will include things like:

* Targeted television and digital ads that have been message-tested and
proven effective, including ads capturing President Biden's impressive
victories on climate change, reining in the greed of the
pharmaceutical industry, rebooting the economy, investing in
infrastructure, canceling student debt, and more, as well as ads about
Trump's lies and crimes to air during his televised criminal trial in
Georgia.
* A revolutionary voter turnout strategy proven to be five times more
effective than traditional tactics. It's called vote tripling, and it
involves individuals reaching out to their own friends and family
members to help them make a plan to vote. MoveOn first deployed this
tactic in 2020, and data shows that it helped to turn out more than
100,000 voters!
* Empowering local organizers on the ground in swing districts. There
are 18 districts across the country that President Biden carried in
2020 but were won by Republican candidates for Congress in 2022.
MoveOn is laser-focused on defeating these candidates in 2024 and has
invested in building local cohorts of dedicated organizers who will
lead the charge to motivate their communities to vote in 2024.

I've seen MoveOn's plans, and I am confident in their strategy—but I also
know that they can do this work only if MoveOn members come together to
make sure they have the resources they need.



I've been working in politics for more than 50 years now, and I don't
think I have ever seen an election as important as this one. Will you join
