It may be hard to believe, but the 2024 election cycle is officially underway. With less than four months until the first ballots are cast, I want to talk to you about this terrifyingly high-stakes election—and what we need to do together to win it.

First: Donald Trump is all but certain to be the Republican nominee. Even after being indicted for 91 separate felonies, he still leads all the other GOP candidates by double digits in recent polls.¹

Second: The race between Trump and President Biden is going to be close. Very close. Some of the most recent polls show a dead heat between the candidates, and just like in 2020, it is likely that the race will come down to just a handful of voters in a handful of states.²

And third: If we lose this race, we will lose American democracy—because Donald Trump is a fascist. Not an authoritarian, not a right-wing extremist—he is a fascist, and we should not be afraid to call him one.

This election could not be more important, which is why I am so grateful to have an organization like MoveOn (which is celebrating its 25th anniversary next month!) that is prepared to execute on a strategic, innovative, and highly impactful campaign to win in 2024.
