Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State just finalized a voter purge that disqualified nearly 200,000 registered voters.

This dark moment for our democracy makes it clearer than ever that far-right politicians are willing to do anything it takes — even disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of voters — if it means it will give them an edge in upcoming elections.

Across the country, we’ve seen a massive surge in voter suppression efforts in spite of historic voter turnout.

When voters flipped Georgia blue in 2020 for the first time since 1992 — something that was only made possible after years of organizing throughout local communities and voter registration efforts — Republicans immediately pointed to baseless conspiracy theories and launched an outright assault against our fair and free elections. This voter registration purge is yet another example of these dangerous tactics in action.
