It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to addressing your concerns, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. Fighting for Fiscal Responsibility and Our Nation's Heroes Over the last five years, we've sent the VA over $10 billion to fix their broken electronic health records system. This week, I questioned VA officials and contractors to get to the bottom of this mess. It's past time this project gets completed, our veterans deserve nothing less than the best. My mom and I left an abusive home in the middle of the night. We spent time in a domestic violence shelter in San Antonio until we could get back on our feet. My wife has a similar story, she spent time in the foster care system as a child. My mom now lives with us and enjoys helping us with our six kids, but not everyone's story turns out like ours did. Improving our nation's foster care system is personal to me, and so many others. Thousands of kids in foster care have gone missing and they can't be located. Our nation's foster youth deserve better care than this. I introduced the Find and Protect Foster Youth Act to remove obstacles authorities face when they are trying to locate a missing foster child. Supporting Consumer Choice Earlier this week, I voted to reverse the newest ploy in Biden's rush-to-green agenda by supporting the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act. I won't stand by and let far-left Green New Deal activists hijack your freedom. Building Better Border Policies Always great to share ideas with local business leaders when I'm back home in Texas. This week, I met with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in San Antonio for a roundtable discussion on my bill that aims to fix labor shortages and alleviate the border crisis. Texas has been on the frontlines of the border crisis for far too long — my legislation takes an important step forward to fix it. Friday Night: Texas Style Nothing beats BBQ and football to kick off the weekend! I caught the Devine Warhorses vs. Hondo Owls game and took a tour of B-Daddy's Barbecue in Helotes on Friday.
