Many years ago, a group of activists sailed through all five great oceanic gyres to understand what, where, and how plastic pollution was affecting our oceans. These adventurers became known as the Gyrenauts ([link removed]) .

Now, with the Earth facing its most dire challenges ever, the Gyrenauts are reuniting to chart a course towards a cleaner, more livable planet.

Gyrenauts is a Web 3 project, led by 5 Gyres, that harnesses the potential of blockchain technology to support organizations working on the world’s biggest issues. If you don’t have an ETH wallet, don’t worry! Gyrenauts can be purchased using a credit card, making the process seamless for anyone who wants to support.

Isn’t blockchain bad for the environment?

There are many powerful and important ways to use blockchain in a positive, high-impact manner that can benefit the planet and its people. Gyrenauts will mint on Ethereum, a proof-of-stake chain that is vastly more efficient than its proof-of-work counterparts (like Bitcoin).
